$\sqrt{9-4\sqrt{5}}=\sqrt{5+4-2\cdot 2\cdot \sqrt{5}}=\sqrt{(\sqrt{5}-2)^{2}}=|\sqrt{5}-2|=\sqrt{5}-2$
